A lot of crafting, so far in 2011!!

Well I know I thought I would be better at this writting thing however no such luck. Since I figured today is St. Patty's day I figured I would get on the ball again and get luckier by starting to write again. I know I don't have much followers but figured maybe if I wrote more I would get some so here goes. A few tips from the Alexander household to yours!!!

If you are in need of a ribbon holder, I have found a suit pants hanger works wonders.

** Pic. on left traditional ribbon holder about $30, the pink set of three found at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $17.** Note-- The pink dress hangers do not have an opening and a closing like the ones I have used, you must buy the ones that the individual racks open and close, if not the ribbons will not go into the rack :)

We had a few extra's because we recently have redone our master bath and my husband no longer wanted them. I was cleaning out the craft closet and I found them and thought AHHHAAA!! I have a brilliant idea, a new ribbon holder. My sister liked it so much she thought I should buy some for my mom and friends and put ribbons on them so they got the idea... this will probably be a popular christmas present in 2011!! So for three girlfriends you could get these in pink and spend about $6 on a cheap and cute present that they will love!!

The other thing I have been crafting is hair clips. Not your traditional hair clips but flower clips. I recently went to HobbyLobby and bought on 1/2 price deal a bunch of beautiful flowers to match my best friends colors in her wedding. We also bought a bunch of fake crystals/rhinestones, hot glue, some feathers and clips. We spent about an hour from start to finish on our FANTASTIC clips that will be worn in our hair for the wedding reception. I think they are great and thought I would share them with you :)

This is a very inexpensive, however looks expensive gift. I bought one at a craft show and thought wow this is six bucks worth, I can do this!! Sure enough here they are.

I have been up to alot more crafting however this is all for now, we are off to a St. Patty's Day playdate. I should be back on later for more updates!!

Back to the 80's

Lately we have been so busy I haven't had time to get on the Internet and even check my email let alone blog. A few months back JWC had an Open house, it was fantastic and themed towards the 80's. Then days ago JWC had a 80's icon party, it was a blast! For those of you who don't know what JWC is look at the link from our local JWC @http://www.jwcfw.com/, it is fantastic. So back to what the whole point of this blog is.... The 80's. You have to understand my husband and I were only born in 1983, so we were looking around at this 80's icon party feeling lost, a little, by who everyone was suppose to be. There were a few characters that I did remember like Kiss, Pee Wee Herman, Ghost busters and things of the cartoon nature. Which brings me to who we decided to go as..... Mario and Luigi from Super Mario Brothers. Now you do have to realize I would have much rather been Princess Peach/Toadstool, which was a story within its self. I ran up to a Halloween shop and asked, the day of the party, if they had the costume of Princess Peach... The man just stared at me, I said again louder, " Princess Peach, as in Super Mario Brothers.... the man busy with customers yells out I thought that was Princess Toadstool I said yea, yea whatever her name is. Well the funny thing is the history on her name is still a mystery to me because it seems she was named one thing in the 80's and a different thing in the 90's newer version depending on what console you had. Needless to say the one costume they had for her was a hideous rendition of Princess Whomever and a Very Conservative nun.... so at last

our costume. It was made from Overalls, yes that we do own, very inexpensive white gloves and M and L hat from the costume shop. Yellow paper circles cut from scrap booking paper and double sided tape. If you ever attempt this on your own, use felt and sew or glue(hot glue) it onto the silver buttons on your overalls, because at the end of the night we had no buttons.... but really cute mustaches( use eyeliner, not any color but black we tried :)

BAKERELLA

So on recent discovery or conversations with one of my best friends Leslie I have found that her son, Daniel, would love a Toy Story Birthday. He will be turning three pretty soon. I have been searching for fall decorations and came upon an awesome site, http://www.bakerella.com/, which low and behold has cakeballs designed in the shape of Toys Story's latest and greatest characters. Not only do they have amazing pics and lots of random decorated call balls, but INSTRUCTIONS!!

I found the pic amusing. I am now in heaven. Then searching more of this amazing site I found that they not only have what she and I will spend many hours slaving away in the kitchen for his birthday but I also found the most adorable mini cupcakes for Madison's birthday..... Her PINKALICIOUS party. THEY TOO HAVE instructions!!

I really don't know what I would do with out the internet, I guess have a thousand books and have to READ...ugh.

I really feel when and if I get to stay home again I have found my calling. I am really good at baking and creating, and so why not put them together? I would of course do this mostly for fun not for main income. I just love coming up with new creative pieces of decor to go onto or become the baking good. I have only really made two fondant pieces over the past two years,

but let me tell you it is amazing how easy and how fun it is to

design and create magical pieces of art work to go ontop of cupcakes and cakes. This year I hope to at least create the two shown above. I know I will be a frequent looker and reader of BAKERELLA!!

Blogger....

Well here I am addicted to reading other blogs and now finally after a few years, I am starting my own. I don't exactly know what I will be blogging about, I guess life and amazing events that will come and go.

Right now I am really anticipating Lindsay and Jeremy's BIG day. I have been given the pure Honor to be the Matron of Honor and I feel so special. I find myself searching for everything "teal and yellow" online late and night and reading other's blogs to get inspiration. I live a million miles away yet, feel as though I am right beside her looking at bridal Magazines.

I have found tons of pics and have tons of ideas, all of which I love to find, even if she hates them it is the fun in looking. The one below is one of my Favs!!

Her dad has an amazing hobby of redoing, I mean completly redoing cars and has an amazing one, so this one would be Fantastic!

The next thing on my plate is I am trying to figure out ideas for Christmas Cards, I know months away right however it is really only 3 MONTHS away, and if we don't have it all figured out soon we won't get it done. I have decided to go with green this year, I mean we are going to be taking photos, around the canoe which is green so I am having a hard time figuring out what exactly to do. We have a great guy friend who takes our pics for us, he did a fantastic job last year... but green on green I don't know?? I need suggestions.

Oh my speaking of Christmas.... My daughter is obsessed with Pinkalicious, and I am debating about having a Pinkalicious party. If you hear of any amazing ideas please let me know. Her 3rd Birthday is also sneaking up on me and I am pretty much stuck on this one.

I found some amazing ideas however the only one I know I will be going with is a Princess Pinkalicious themed Party. I have a good friend that is amazing at themes however she only has boys, but if ya have any suggestions again throw them my way!!
